The Thalia-Beau Beach Retreat
We are lucky enough to live in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, a much loved seaside resort. Being near the sea has always been such therapy for us and it certainly was for Thalia too, she lived for the beach.
Our vision for the future is to open The Thalia-Beau Beach Retreat, a home on the Yorkshire Coast where families bereaved of a child can come to take a short break.
After much research and of course experience, we are aware that there is nothing like this in our area, or surroundings, and it would be so beneficial to so many, that we know as we often wanted to run away from it all, we still do!
Truth be told, we know there is nowhere to run to, no place to hide and nothing that can take the pain away, we just want to create a home that surrounds those grieving a child with calm, peace and gentleness, where all their needs are catered for, so that for just a short time they can rest and just be.
We want to include day trips and excursions for siblings, to bring a smile from within their broken hearts, even for just a moment or two, we know how important this is for their well-being going forward and what a break of this kind would mean to them and the whole family!
We do live in a nightmare, but The Thalia-Beau Beach Retreat is our dream, it's our hope for the future.
We honestly do believe that it will become a reality, but we know we have a lot of work in front of us before we get there, and so the fundraising begins!
